The evolution of computing

Every now and then it pays to step back and take a broad view of where we’ve been and where we are now.

The evolution of computing:

Phase #1: Let’s crack enemy codes and drop bombs with greater accuracy

Phase #2: Let’s manage record keeping and accounts for massive corporations

Phase #3: Let’s put individual computing power on people’s desks

Phase #4: Let’s connect all the computers on a global network

Phase #5: Let’s shrink the computers so people can carry them around in their pockets and make these devices available at a price affordable to billions of people
